Gavin Doyle has spent the last decade or so documenting his life through photography. Many of his images made their way onto Purple Diary, the French website of Olivier Zahm’s Purple franchise that sets the global standard on the nexus of art, fashion and sex.
This winter, Doyle left New York’s tundra for Los Angeles. BULLETT is thrilled to unveil his diary above, which includes images of modern Hollywood icons like Lindsay Lohan, Sky Ferreira, Rita Ora—at a moment when LA is turning into a fashion capital. Last month, Tom Ford skipped London to hold a pre-Oscar show and the global fashion elite followed: Anna Wintour and W Magazine’s Stefani Tonchi flew west; Chanel, Fendi and Gucci hosted events; and the Times declared that LA’s fashion moment had officially arrived.
Doyle is one of the few young photographers who places celebrity in a social real context, here shown through his candid iPhone lens. His unique access to the famous allows him to juxtapose household names with nameless streets, noir nightscapes and sunny faux-dream lands.
