Here’s the Worst Sentence You’ll Read All Month, Ever Maybe

+

This being the internet, we come across very many bad sentences every day of our lives. You may find one in this very blog post you’re reading at some point for all I know. So it takes one that is truly, hilariously, onerously bad to stand out in the crowd. The Daily Mail has gifted us with just such a sentence today.

In a piece about actor Matt LeBlanc splitting up with his girlfriend, reporter Chelsea White leads off with this gem:

Matt LeBlanc may need his Friends around it seems because as the famous theme song goes, they are there for you even when ‘your love life’s D.O.A’ and once again the star is back on the market.

Hoo boy. Hoooooo boy. That’s the best and worst lede I’ve ever read. It somehow tops what was, up until now, the previous title holder for that dubious distinction, which came from a CNN piece on Kurt Cobain last year:

I sat there for a half hour after reading the LeBlanc lede trying to think of a way to possibly make it any worse, and I couldn’t. It’s just perfect.
