A good chunk of Ariel Pink‘s latest full-length release Mature Themes sounds like AM radio rock from the 70s, so it makes sense that the album’s first video looks like it was shot on a handheld a couple of decades old. The Haunted Graffiti frontman starts off the Travis Peterson-directed clip by being thrown out of a motel room by his LA psych-pop cohort Geneva Jacuzzi, but he doesn’t let that little setback break his stride. Instead he goes on tour, picking up every lady that crosses his path; R. Kelly may be the pied piper of R&B, but Ariel Pink is clearly the pied piper of west coast freak rock. Of course, at the end of the clip all the girls, Geneva Jacuzzi included, end up back at the motel room for what we can only presume is a bit of Penthouse Forum fun. Dang Ariel Pink, dang. Only in dreams indeed.
