Cody Critcheloe, the enigmatic alter ego of SSION, is just as adept at conceptualizing insanely captivating (and captivatingly insane) music videos as he is at looking fabulous in drag (see right for photographic evidence). In addition to being the mastermind behind his own videos, he has also received high praise for directing clips for quintessential cool kids such as Santigold and Peaches. Rather than make a feeble attempt at describing Critcheloe’s latest masterpiece, his video for SSION’s aptly titled “HIGH,” we figured we would let the film’s director and star break it down for us himself as only he can: “An american fantasy beginning in dante’s climate controlled basement, the typical suspects fabricate a humdrum dream: an ode to getting old and rock (n roll) climbing. i find it hard to believe we’re in heaven… music makes the bourgeoisie a rebel? i guess it does” Well put. What follows is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the making of “HIGH,” captioned by Critcheloe himself. And click HERE to watch the video itself.
