The ambiguous, months-long Pre-Fall season is coming to an end and, as usual, the best is last. Our favorite Parisian presentations—Acne, Balenciaga, Céline, Carven, Givenchy and Rochas—came out within the same final week, and we’re seeing amazing convergences between them. The best are designing in tandem. Amidst a general theme of more grown-up, figure-flattering fashions, we’ve identified these micro-trends: cascading, peplum-like waist waves cut into suit jackets, tops, and dresses; in the least ‘boho’ way, skirts over pants, most often skinny black trousers; the head-to-toe print craze continues but now in more subdued all-over au naturels; pantsuits and other coordinates are kicked into high volume; and, finally, rad coats in pretty ugly teddy bear brown fur. Are Phoebe Philo, Riccardo Tisci, Jonny Johansson, Marco Zanini, Guillaume Henry and the interim Balenciaga team holding roundtables? Because invite meeee.
