You know, there are a lot of songs about Mondays—Monday Monday, I Don’t Like Mondays, Blue Monday, Long Monday, Manic Monday—but there weren’t enough to get us through yesterday, Day Five of NYFW, a.k.a. did time, like, stretch? Still hungover from the gin fizz’s at Eckhaus Latta and other Funday festivities, we were roused around 7am to the sound of windows smacked with rain. Wet, grey: perfect for a packed calendar. Theyskens’ Theory, Ohne Titel, Donna Karan, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Yeohlee, Karen Walker, Brood, The Row, Betsey Johnson, Jil Sander Navy, Alice + Olivia, Marc McNairy, Thom Browne, Zero + Maria Cornejo, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Assembly—did I forget something? Cruel and inhuman, maybe, but there were looks that made this longest Monday worth it, like the power slouching at Theyskens’ Theory, the double breasting at 3.1 Phillip Lim, the Raf Simonsing at Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the trompe l’oeil furring at MM6. Tim Coppens’s bombers were immaculate. Karen Walkers’s glasses were worth a steal. Everything at Assembly should be ours, now. Please. And The Row… A girl can dream.
