“Revelation through concealment” is how art critic David Bourdon described Christo and Jeanne-Claude‘s wrappings. Borrowing the aesthetics of wrapping from the site-specific artist couple, Fall 2013 designers are embracing the body with a similar kind of protected communication. The wraps shown here, by J.W. Anderson, Phoebe Philo for Céline, and Stella McCartney, are ornamental and unnecessary, while, at the same time, expressing a philosophical essential. Our bodies are fragile and natural, like the landscapes around. They can, and arguably need, to be enhanced, highlighted, and sheltered through our own mindful artistry. The wrap around the heart encloses us in the craft of humanity.
