Trump’s New Slogan Was Already Used in ‘The Purge: Election Year’

+

While it’s fun to compare Trump’s America to Hunger Games or The Purge via a well-executed meme, this real-life similarity is downright terrifying. In an interview with The Washington Post Donald Trump proposed a slogan for his 2020 election campaign. “Are you ready?” he asked? No, we’re not, but go ahead. “Keep America Great!”

Alright, I get it. Trump is assuming that this term he’s going to “Make America great again,” meaning that next term all he’ll need to do is “keep it great” (fairly optimistic, but whatever). Only problem is that that’s the exact slogan from The Purge: Election Year.

Set in a dystopian future, The Purge films center around the one night a year during which all crime becomes legal.

Please be a coincidence. Please, please be a coincidence.

The only thing more terrifying than this is the thought of Trump being president for eight whole years.
