Here’s your <3 video of the day. It’s an interview with a young Ryan Gosling just after he’d been hired by The Mickey Mouse Club. (Hollywood Reporter via Buzzfeed) There’s a lot of prescient stuff here, like how charming and polite and professional he is at such a young age, and how a much older woman can barely constrain herself from jumping on top of him.
A few highlights:
“The people of Disney are so incredibly nice. They treated us like we were kings and queens. Like, we came from, just our own houses where we have to do our own stuff, and they did so much stuff for us, it was just all neat.”
If you freeze frame it right there you can actually pinpoint the exact moment where a life time of celebrity privilege was born. It’s rare to actually get that sort of thing on tape.
When the reporter asks him to do a number he says, “You know what, there has to be some surprise so why don’t you watch the show and you can see me perform.” Look at this kid, selling the show like a pro already.
When she asks about the reaction from his friends and whether or not they’ve been teasing him. No, they haven’t, he says. “My friends are really excited. They call me mouse boy and things.” Um, are you sure that counts as “not-teasing” young blood?
Other important revelations from watching this video include his desire to be both Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan at the same time, and the fact that I’m working at my kitchen table in my socks trying to fight off the ghosts of failure.
