Another day, another treasure trove of curios from the internet pantry arrives to delight us with mirth and wonder. This time it comes in the form of a expertly crafted pastiche of Wes Andersonia in this faux-trailer for The Grand Budapest Hotel. The attention to detail here is really rather impressive, nailing all of the idiosyncratic signifiers of Anderson’s style, from the whimsical tone, to the eccentric characters, a capricious lark of an adventure, a cockeyed sense of humor, a quizzical parallel universe setting, to the droll costumes, and quaint set design. As if that weren’t enough, these clever rogues somehow managed to enlist Ralph Fiennes, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Jude Law, Adrien Brody, Mathieu Amalric, F. Murray Abraham, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, and Jeff Goldblum to take part in the gag. Someone should give these guys a shot at their own movie.
