Willem Dafoe, Marina Abramovic, the Red Woman from Game of Thrones, Antony Hegarty’s lonesome voice and a healthy dose of knife play. What more do you need for a music video? Over the strains of Antony and the Johnsons’s “Cut the World,” Dafoe and the Red Woman (alright, her name is Carice van Houten) appear to us as office workers involved in some sad, strange dance of murder and regret. (In case you work in a tough environment, things do get a little violent.) It’s all gorgeously shot by director NABIL, and includes a cameo from Abramovic at the end as she shares a meaningful glance with van Houten. According to Pitchfork, the song was written for The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, an opera that will screen on August 11 in London. Us common folk probably won’t get to see that for some time, so for now, this video will have to do.
