Watch T-Pain Address Homophobia in Hip-Hop

+

Hip-hop isn’t the only musical genre with questionable standards when it comes to its treatment of homosexuality by any means, but it is the one that gets the most attention, for better or worse. It’s a subject that T-Pain, J Robert Oppenheimer of AutoTune finds worthy of addressing, as he explained in an interview with Vlad TV recently.

While, as Gawker points out, the interview isn’t perfect, women are still “bitches,” he does make some good, and funny, points. For example, homophobic dudes assuming every gay guy in the world is just dying to jump on them. “You ain’t even got bitches,” he says. “Why you think this gay dude is gonna like you? Bitches don’t even like you! That’s stupid, bruh.”

On his gay assistant:

People don’t fuck with me because he’s around me. People feel like, ‘Oh shit, I wanna go say something to Pain but that gay dude is right there,’ and it’s like, he ain’t lookin’ for you, nigga! Nigga, if he was looking for you…let me tell you about these gay niggas, boy. These gay niggas’ll get on you. These gay niggas bold. If they want you, they gonna tell you before you even know they in there. They gon’ get you for real.

The general idea, however, is a good one. It doesn’t matter if someone is gay. “I don’t fuck with nobody that just cut people off because how they choose to live their life…It’s in his genes man, it’s not a choice.”
