To showcase Prada’s new Galleria bag, the iconic Italian house recruited LA filmmaker/photographer Autumn de Wilde to create five shorts. The first of Prada’s film series is called, “The Postman Dreams,” which tells the story of a bored mailman sleeping on the job and dreaming about the coveted Galleria bag. With a quiet touch of humor and light surrealism, de Wilde’s work has a definite Wes Anderson stamp to it.
“A postman visits hundreds of lives for 10 seconds at a time when they deliver the mail,” de Wilde said to Style.com about her decision to profile a postman. “I loved the idea of our hero visiting so many different worlds every day and dreaming up fantastic lives for the people he encounters. I have long had a romance with the art of letter writing and collecting vintage stamps, so that and my fixation with uniforms made it all click.”
