Los Angeles-based director and screenwriter Amanda Milius‘ new short film, The Lotus Gun, explores misogyny in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Set in 2077, the world is overrun by tribal communities made up of the few people who withstood the end of the world, where women and guns are the two rarest and most sought after commodities.
Starring Internet sensation Lauren Avery as Nora, a survivor who watches over herself and her lover Daphine, played by actress/artist Dasha Nekrasova, the film imagines both the beauty and terror of post-apocalypse. When Daphine is kidnapped by a dangerous “drug cult,” Nora sets out to rescue her, leading to a face off with the group’s notorious leader. With sprawling desertscapes and psychedelic colors, The Lotus Gun is a dystopian western about womanhood, love and survival.
