Though Jennifer Lawrence had just nabbed yet another Golden Globe, she took a pause from being pumped to seriously call out a reporter backstage. The reporter was off camera, but as Lawrence makes perfectly clear, he is looking at his phone as he asks her a question.
“How do you see yourself for the Oscar night,” he says, with a heavy accent, at which point Lawrence interrupts and says, “You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro,” as she wags her finger like a mom who just caught her kid stealing cookies. “You can’t do that. You’ve got to live in the now.”
And if the poor journalist wasn’t embarrassing enough at that point, Lawrence really lets him have it. When he tries asking his question again (which, I’m assuming, was meant to be something like, “What do you think your chances are come Oscar night?” – a pretty pointless but sensical question), she interrupts him a second time, saying in a painfully patronizing tone, “We’re at the Golden Globes. If you put your phone down you would know that.”

OK I get that Jennifer Lawrence just does and says whatever she wants all the time and it’s totally refreshing and usually quite adorable but I’m calling bullshit on this one. The journalist is obviously not a native English speaker. He’s sitting in a brightly-lit room surrounded by a bunch of hungry (in every sense of the word – they’ve probably been sitting there without food for hours), aggressive journalists all vying to get a quote from the most famous actress in the world. He, like many of us, probably writes notes on his phone. I’m going to go ahead and guess that he wasn’t texting his other “bros” about where the afterparty is, he was likely just reading his question. And now he’s just been humiliated in front of a room full of his peers (who all laugh, by the way, like the jerks that they are) by Jennifer Freaking Lawrence. Not cool bro (bro, in this case, being Lawrence). Not. Cool.
Now if you want to see a celeb accurately call out us normals for spending too much time on our phones, look no further than Louis CK.
