Rising designer Bror August’s NYFW debut last month proved he’s one of the city’s most promising exports, creating a colorful fall ’16 collection inspired by his teenage fixation with love. Titled, “Never Had A Boyfriend Jeans,” his lineup explored the balance between performance and reality when faced with impressing a potential suitor.
In the beginning of any relationship, you’re comfortable hiding behind a guise, as intimacy intensifies and ultimately chips away at the facade to reveal your true self—in Bror August’s case, one that’s equipped with a shameless love for Harry Potter. This idea spawned the Norwegian designer’s exploration of sheer “honest” fabrics and references to guilty pleasures.
