Watch Artist Rachel Rossin’s Incredible Eggsperiment in ‘Tide Offering’

+

Shot by filmmaker Elena Parasco, the short documentary Tide Offering, which was exhibited at the New Museum’s Biennale in May 2013, showcases the method behind artist Rachel Rossin‘s shell-shattering madness. Allow us to explain: Inspired by Tibetian Sand Mandela rituals and Samsaratied philosophies, Rossin’s process involves de-yolking the eggs (with her mouth; don’t ask, watch the video), then allowing people to trample over the eggshells.  Contrary to what you might think, walking on eggshells seems more cathartic than anxiety inducing, and through the dissolution of the eggs, the viewer slowly comes to terms with the transience in material art. Check it out below.
