As part of their ultimate goal to cover the planet in colorful basics, Uniqlo recently teamed up with professional tennis player Novak Djokovic as their global brand ambassador. The brand has sponsored the top-ranked athlete since May, and at a press conference this morning announced plans to launch their new sportswear line created just for him. Naoki Takizawa, UNIQLO Creative Director, says inspiration for the line came from Djokovic’s athletic performance and the spirit of his country of origin, Serbia, though the fact that he’s kind of a cutie pie probably didn’t hurt. Each of the ten items has been made to closely resemble the actual professional wear Djokovic will don at the 2012 US Open, which should be pretty cool for playing dress-up or, you know, tennis. Set to launch in the United States on the same day as the tournament, the line will be purchasable at any of Uniqlo’s NYC locations on August 27.
