For a band who’re making a name for themselves with stand-offish, punk affectations like Leeds’ Eagulls, you might expect the music to be harder to swallow. But songs like “Nerve Endings” have a foundation of melodicism under the shouted intensity. When the five-piece aren’t busy scrawling off hand-written manifestos against the scene, they’re getting into trouble with the law as potential serial killers. More or less.
For the video here they procured a pig brain and wanted to film a time-lapse of it slowly rotting in the basement, which is probably a metaphor for something or other, but, as the story goes, they forgot to pay the gas bill, and a maintenance worker showed up and discovered it. The police were promptly called, and cordoned off the house.
“The guy next door who owns a tire shop was like, ‘What the fuck have you lot been doing in there? The coppers have just been in!'” the band explained over email. “They probably thought it was some fucking human baby brain or something…”
