The rap god himself (no, not Kanye West), Tupac Shakur, has finally been nominated for a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since the late rapper’s debut album, the legendary 2pacalypse Now, turns 25 this November, Makavelli is officially eligible for induction.
Pac will be competing for his place in the Hall of Fame alongside a list of talented nominees, including Detroit’s original punk band, MC5, and krautrock pioneers, Kraftwerk, as well as Pearl Jam, The Cars, Jane’s Addiction, The Zombies, Janet Jackson, Depeche Mode and Chaka Khan. If inducted, Tupac will join a list of hip-hop icons from N.W.A and Run-DMC to Public Enemy and Grandmaster Flash. Plus, maybe Pac’s just been waiting for the ceremony to come out of hiding.
