You could tally a list of Stephen King adaptations that are worth a damn on one hand, provided three of the fingers on the hand were devoured by a murderous sewer clown. So it is with cautious excitement that we’re taking the news that Cary Fukunaga will direct the upcoming revamp of It, as Vulture reports.
Fukunaga proved that he knows his way around a spooky, menacing atmosphere with his brilliant directing work on True Detective.
“The most important thing is that Stephen King gave us his blessing,” producer Dan Lin told Vulture. “We didn’t want to make this unless he felt it was the right way to go, and when we sent him the script, the response that Cary got back was, ‘Go with God, please! This is the version the studio should make.’ So that was really gratifying.”
