So Victoria’s Secret posted a five-minute behind the scenes video of the casting process for their runway show, and unsurprisingly it’s a wee bit depressing, but not for the reasons one might assume. Yes, for many women, watching anything Victoria’s Secret related is a one-way ticket to self-loathing, but while watching this clip I found myself feeling bad for the models rather than myself.
Okay, now hear me out. Sure, these girls have insane bods and luscious hair and they’re freakishly tall (all around freaks of nature, basically), but they work all year, denying themselves the pleasures of pizza and beer and general happiness and then hundreds of these girls who have had the “honor” of making it to casting never hit the runway.
In fact, a number of the models actually break down and cry in front of the casting directors, and one representative insists that even the girls that don’t cry “all feel that way.”
Anyway, this is just straight up depressing… aside from Gigi Hadid, who is a gorgeous ray of sunshine and gets casted on the spot, even hugging one of the lucky male casters in her lingerie. Now she makes me depressed.
And on another note: When did Victoria’s Secret get rid of boobs?!
