I know we talk about a lot of fun things here: fashion, music, art. But sometimes it behooves us to take a step back and look at the big picture events. The things that cut across all demographics and geography restrictions and unite as all as people. Today, that’s the new Instagram logo.
Gone is the retro-looking polaroid-style camera, only to be replaced with… uh, a different sort of minimal camera design I guess. A bowl of rainbow sherbet on a spaceship? I’m not exactly sure why this update was needed, or how it better tells the story of Instagram or whatever it is they had ten thousand meetings about when they were agreeing on what to use, but one thing you can say about it is that it certainly exists. No denying that part.
More interesting is the in-app redesign, which is streamlined and black and white.
As they explain:
We’ve made improvements to how the Instagram app looks on the inside as well. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app.
Still no update on getting anyone to actually like my damn photos of the sun set or a half eaten hamburger, but maybe that’s coming soon. Check out this snazzy video below for some reason.
