Sometimes when things get rough it helps to lie back, close your eyes and remind yourself that both Rihanna and Adam Driver exist. Soon the universe will gift us something even more satisfying: a musical starring both Rihanna and Adam Driver. To make matters more magical, the film of our dreams will be helmed by French director Leos Carax (of cult faves Holy Motors and Lovers on the Bridge) and both the screenplay and the music is written by LA art-rock heroes Sparks. Is this real life?!
According to Deadline, Annette follows a stand-up comedian struggling to raise his 2-year-old daughter after his wife, an opera singer, dies. The daughter also has a “surprising gift” (I bet she can sing!). The film comes courtesy of Amazon, who are straight killing it as of late. Only time will tell what roles our two heroes will play.
Just the thought of RiRi and Driver in a musical makes La La Land seem like a play put on by a mediocre performing arts high school. “Can Adam Driver even sing?” You ask? “Have you seen Inside Llewyn Davis?” I respond.
Annette begins filming the spring, but I begin getting absurdly excited right now.
