From December 1 through 4, Miami Beach, Florida, will host the 10th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the most prestigious art show in all of America. In celebration of this event, André Balazs Properties, owner of the famed Standard Hotel brand, has collaborated with Six Scents Parfums and the fragrance house, Symrise, to create two new, distinct scents for The Standard’s Miami location.
In order to create a an unprecedented, fragrance experience, the New York-based Six Scents Parfums company called upon Symrise perfumer, David Apel, to dream up two new scents for the project. With that, ‘Verde’ and ‘Incense into the Sea’ were born. To further translate these fragrances into a holistic and themed experience, two hanging gardens will be installed at the spa, directly inspired by the fragrances’ unique ingredients. ‘Incense into the Sea’ is described as “a mystical veil of incense floating on notes of the sea with minerality and salty woody warmth, hints of misty green foliage on the walls of a private Garden.” In contrast, ‘Verde’ is a “lush tropical rain dripping down from green leaves, palm fronds, ferns, and trailing vines.”
“Gardens have long symbolized notions of luxury, status/privilege, freedom, sexuality, fertility (creatively and sexually) and a bridge to the purest sense of perfection in art, nature. Over the years André Balazs has mastered the art of creating a space where people can define luxury on their own terms. This project aims to preserve this experience in the form of a fragrance,” says Kaya Sorhaindo, the Creative Director at Six Scents Parfums.
‘Verde’ & ‘Incense into the Sea’ will be available exclusively at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach during Art Basel Miami Beach 2011, along with the a selection of the Six Scents Parfums range.
