It seems almost unfair to release a trailer for a movie that everyone is going to go see by default. But for those of us who have always dreamed of a mainstream film in which male partial nudity is mandatory for a good third of it, the clip you’re about to see has been a long time coming. While the trailer for Magic Mike, Channing Tatum‘s semi-autobiographical stripper flick (words you’ll probably never again see strung together in a sentence) offers much of the goods we’d come to expect (i.e. nipples, night moves, and did we spy pasties?) there’s also much more narrative than we’d really want from such a delicious premise. Why does Mike, the stripper played by Tatum, need to have dreams of becoming a furniture designer? Can’t he just be happy grinding and gyrating and making oodles of cash? A bit of a buzzkill, if you ask us. All the same, when it comes to the promise of Channing Tatum in a rip-away cop outfit, it would take a second Holocaust to dampen our enthusiasm.
The film, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh (!!!) and costars Alex Petyffer and Matthew McConaughey, hits theaters this summer.
