Last summer, BULLETT caught up with the Arctic Monkeys on the eve of the release of Suck It and See, their fourth studio album, to discuss, among other things, the risks and advantages of telling one’s audience to ‘Suck it’:
“In the U.S., the “suck it” part is a bit of a diss, but it’s not in that context for us. It’s more like a nice thing, like the phrase will be like, “take a risk and see what happens.”
It seems the confrontational factor hasn’t caused any sudden decrease in public interest. Yesterday the Arctic Monkeys released a new video single featuring a chromatic lens, a DIY aesthetic, and an impending car crash, as Alex Turner and Matt Helders try to make a film and steer a vehicle at the same time. Oh, those fancy multi-taskers.
