If you’re anything like me, and desperately miss watching fake blondes freak dance while yelling at their moms, have no fear—My Super Sweet Sixteen is back. You don’t have to pretend you were super cool and never saw it, because everybody loved to hate watch MTV’s shit show of a reality TV special, spotlighting rich teenagers and their outlandish “super sweet sixteens.” Now, you’ll finally get the chance to do it again.
Earlier this year, MTV announced the return of television’s finest masterpiece, and today they’ve doubled down on the good news: apparently, the network will be casting the show through social media. All you have to do is sign up for Music.ly—whatever that is—and submit your audition tape using the hashtag #MySuperSweetSixteen.
According to network president, Chris McCarthy, this is only the first in a series of plans MTV has for heightening audience engagement. But why even bother watching the show when you can get all the precious casting vids? That was always the best part of American Idol, anyway.
Though, I can’t say I’m not seriously excited to watch kids be super mean to each other, all in the name of a birthday invite, I still feel bad for Maggie from Sophie’s party in Season 2.
