If you fashion even a little, then you already know Telfar won first place in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which was announced last night. It’s been a long time coming for the fashion favorite, which has been doing deconstructed, unisex sportswear since way before it was cool. Started by Telfar Clemens in 2005, the New York label hasn’t only kept ahead of the trends we see everywhere in fashion now––it’s helped bring them to life. Their accessibility isn’t forced, it’s just in their DNA––and that authenticity translates. Having just collaborated this summer with White Castle on the chain’s new employee uniforms, the brand is consistently finding new ways to integrate itself into the world of non-fashion people––which is rare, even in the world of brands who brag non-stop about their accessibility. We’re looking forward to the brand’s next moves with their $400,000 prize, and hoping that it yields a Pizza Hut collab. Because fast food and fashion keep the existential angst away.
