London-based photographer and former BULLETT one-to-watch Alis Pelleschi has taken her MySpace slut aesthetic to the baseball diamond with her entry into New Era’s Introducing, a global creative project from the lifestyle brand best known for sponsoring the official cap worn on the field by Major League Baseball. This year, the brand launched a contest meant to showcase blossoming artists across the world. Pelleschi, a finalist in the contest, is among the many entrants vying for the £10,000 prize (about 16,000 USD). Selected contributions will be featured in a traveling gallery exhibition, and judged by a panel of renowned curators and creative forces. With this year’s “canvas”—a blank ball-cap—Pelleschi incorporated into her creation her hometown of Bradford, her favorite color (pink), her penchant for everything Disney, and her zodiac sign (Taurus). She created her own spin on the veil of a princess. “I wanted the hat to become futuristic and warrior-like, to resemble my online social and work presence,” Pelleschi says. “I like the idea of visually expressing who you are and where you come from.”
Pelleschi’s piece will travel the globe with New Era Introducing’s exhibit, making stops in London, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Paris, Stockholm, Cape Town, and Dubai.
