Did you know that your parents are human beings? Weird, right? They had lives just like you, where they grew up, dreamed about the future, were scared of what the world was going to look like when they got older, faced uncertainties about their careers, wondered whether or not they would ever find the right person to fall in love with, and were, much like you and I, clueless morons about literally everything.

Some other things they liked to do included getting fucked up and boning, and thank god for that second part, because we wouldn’t be here otherwise. Even weirder than all of that though, is that your parents were actually cool at one point. Mine, for example, grew up in the ’60s and ’70s, where they smoked grass on the beach, drank beer out of cans, wore tight pants, carefully affected beards (dad, not mom on that one, but who knows), and bummed all the older people out  with their general aimlessness and entitled attitudes. You’d be hard pressed to look at a picture of our parents in the ’70s and one of us and our dipshit friends bumming around today on Instagram and be able to tell what decade it was actually from. Same thing with music, like this new track from the Unknown Mortal Orchestra, ”Swim and Sleep (Like A Shark).” When was it written? It wasn’t. It was always there. Always will be, too.
