Something to do tonight: The School of Visual Arts is hosting “MPS Graduate Fashion Photography Exhibition: Class of 2012”, the opening reception showcasing the best from its intensive one-year degree program for established photographers, where they hone their skills working alongside the forerunners of the industry. You can expect that the boundaries of the genre will be challenged ranging from commercial and editorial work to fine art photography, “high” culture, “low” culture and everything in between. Moving images will also be a part of the display, opening an entirely new set of creative doors. Needless to say, these are the best of the best in one of the most fashionable cities in the world. The artists represented will include Bon Duke, who got his big break shooting Proenza Schouler three years ago, Ina Jang, who weaves paper cutouts into her photographs as a clever alternative to Photoshop, and Doron Gild, who has shot the likes of Phantogram and Ra Ra Riot, but the list and credits go on and on.
