How fortunate we are to be living in the time of album streams for cool stuff that we’ve been waiting to hear for a long time. Last week, Jessie Ware presented the world with a stream of her long awaited debut Devotion, and today we’re fortunate enough to get a stream of Matthew Dear’s anticipated fifth album, Beams. Remember when artists used to wait for other people to leak their albums? Wasn’t that crazy? The record is a follow-up to 2010′s decidedly moodier Black City, but it still retains the slithering, organic sound that’s come to be the standard of Dear’s pop work. In a year that’s been sincerely lacking in murky, danceable pop music, there’s a good chance that Beams’ 11 tracks are just what you need to put yourself into a dark and stylish mood in time for fall. Listen to Beams here and pick it up when it drops officially August 27.
