Steve Buscemi and Vampire Weekend bro’d-down yesterday at the New York City’s Easter Parade for one reason or another, probably something to do with me and all the other websites posting about it Pavlov’s dog-style today and mentioning that the band have a new album coming out soon. (Photo: Pitchfork via Coup de Main). It was by all accounts a delightful romp through the city from a couple of affable fellows indeed. The best moment came in this video below where Buscemi sings Vampire Weekend’s new single “Diane Young”, which he apparently heard for the first time a few minutes before, into a comically over-sized microphone.
“Nobody knows what the future holds, I’m getting old,” he sang. “Scooby-doobie-doo. Vampire Weekend! La la la lala. Doobie doobie doo doo doo.” Kind of have to admit, that’s sort of an improvement over the actual lyrics. Is there anything Buscemi can’t do?
Then he shot each of the band members in the face with an old-timey pistol for horning in on his moonshine territory, so, you know, on the whole sort of a mixed bag of a day.
