Star Slinger Taps Rap Anomaly Lil B for “Bad Bitches”

+

When trying to process the output and behavior of rapper Lil B, it’s often difficult to figure out what the Bay Area rapper is on, exactly. On one hand there’s things like Lil B’s highly anticipated lecture at NYU, and on the other there’s his extremely unreserved internet presence, as evidenced by his Tumblr and Twitter accounts, not to mention his excessive stream of videos (some of which feature him wearing earrings and what appears to be his aunt’s favorite church hat).

Well, just to complicate the conundrum further, occasionally Lil B puts in some work, the goal of which doesn’t seem to be the advancement of his brand. For instance, today UK producer Star Slinger dropped the new track “Bad Bitches,” and along with his typically swirling sonics, the track features Lil B and Stunnaman, both of whom crewed around in Berkeley rap group “The Pack.” As is the case with any Star Slinger joint, the song’s effusive, dreamy production is the star here, but it’s always a little surprising when Lil B gives us verses where he doesn’t appear to be on a secret mission to undermine rap as a genre.
