Spike Lee to Helm Mike Tyson’s One-Man Show on Broadway

+

You may or may not already know about pugilist Mike Tyson’s one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, which had a one-week run at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas back in April. If you don’t, you certainly will now: sources are telling TMZ that Spike Lee has signed on to direct the coming Broadway transfer. (The reviews write themselves: “Mike Tyson delivers a knockout performance!” “Mike Tyson bites off more than he can chew!”) If the thought of Tyson headlining a Times Square theater has you scratching your head, Lee’s participation isn’t likely to answer any questions. The legendary director famously told the New York Times back in 2007 that he couldn’t remember the last time he had been to the theater, so it does make sense that he would choose a project as, well, unique as Mike Tyson to make his theatrical debut. No other details about the production have been announced yet, but the question “What’s the weirdest entertainment news story of the day?” has just been answered.
