Song of the Week: Escort’s Disco-era Party ‘If You Say So’

+

It’s been about three years since the release of “Cocaine Blues” from the Chicago disco orchestra Escort, and the track is still running around my brain, as the lyric goes. In the meantime the 17 member band’s profile has steadily risen, thanks to pitch-perfect era-evoking dance numbers like this latest single “If You Say So.” The single, out October 21, was co-written with MNDR, and comes complete with a cover of St Vincent’s “Actor Out Of Work”.

“We flew out to L.A. for a show and linked up with MNDR at a little studio on the beach,” the band’s Eugene Cho
tells us. “We produced this whole track over the course of a few lazy days while working on our tans and making trips to the taco truck.”

There’s plenty of inspiration to get out on the dance floor and work off all those tacos here.
