The Smiths and PETA Launch ‘Meat is Murder’ Video Game

The Smiths, who’re notoriously outspoken vegans, have teamed up with PETA and game development studio This Is Pop, to launch “Meat is Murder:” the video game.

Inspired by the band’s 1985 cult single, the game, titled This Beautiful Creature Must Die, allows players to save turkeys, chickens, pigs and cows from their impending deaths, as an electronic arcade version of the song, created by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, plays in the background. The band also contributed the original “Meat is Murder” to PETA’s latest film about the meat industry.

“This game is the biggest social crusade of all, as we safeguard the weak and helpless from violent human aggression,” said Morrissey in a press release. “You don’t get that from Pokémon Go.” Play the game, below.
