For his sophomore collection with dystopian streetwear brand, Darkdron, designer Giovanni Giacomo Forbice channeled Friday the 13th and the annual Gathering of the Juggalos. Modeled by Sky Ferreira and shot by photographer Sandy Kim, Unwelcome features baggy denim, mesh jerseys and the gory prints Darkdron has become best-known for. The spring ’17 collection also boasts a range of boots, from moto-stilettos to classic combat boots with details like chains and a label reading, “In case you get lost, write your name here.”
Named after Norwegian metal band, Dark Throne, Darkdron combines a sarcastic worldview with classic industrial shapes to create post-apocalyptic streetwear with a gothic twist. Forbice, who started the brand last year, has already collaborated with Hood By Air, Opening Ceremony and Terence Koh from his other label, FORFEX, a radical Italian shoe brand that subverts the traditional sneaker.
His latest collection for Darkdron is a humorous take on the subversive underground, marrying fashion with the surreal world of the juggalo. Jason’s influence is there too—the dripping blood, razor blades and horror movie graphics all evoke the Friday the 13th villain. With Unwelcome, Forbice cements his outsider design aesthetic, delivering streetwear perfect for the apocalypse—or an Insane Clown Posse concert.
