Whenever a big company decides to use a relatively popular band to brand their products, it makes marketing look pretty easy. You might feel like you definitely spend enough time on Google Reader to offer up some choice recommendations for bands that might need a bucket of cash in order to shill for somebody’s product, right? Pretty great Swedish pop group Little Dragon is the latest to go that route, here for vodka peddlers Absolut. This track, “Sunshine,” is inspired by Absolut Punch (whatever that means) and this clip for the song aired during The Daily Show last night. According to a press release “the goal is to bring consumers exclusive content and experiences with new music, custom cocktails, and digital applications aimed at enriching their nightlife,” and last but not least, to sell a ton of vodka to people who are easily influenced by Little Dragon and The Daily Show (not that there aren’t far worse things to be influenced by). It’s surely a testament to Little Dragon’s ability as artists that a song that ostensibly was created for a marketing campaign still turns out to be fairly decent.
