Undoubtedly the wokest game in, well, the game, The Sims just dropped a new update that allows players to fully customize the gender of their avatars.
Luckily, The Sims didn’t half-ass this one. The update removes gender barriers when selecting clothing, accessories and hairstyles (i.e. you can now put a dress on a “male” character or a goatee on a “female” character) but also allows you to alter physical characteristics as you please. This includes “physique, walk style and voice.”
While film, TV and fashion have slowly begun to adopt a less binary view of gender (they all still have a long way to go, duh), video games have remained embarrassingly behind the times. Avatars remain by and large super manly he-men or barely clad, big-busted women. Bravo to The Sims for being the first game to take a giant leap in the right direction.
Now go type in “rosebud” a billion times and spoil the shit out of your gender fluid Sims!
