Secret Deodorant Reminds Us ‘There’s No Bad Way to Be a Woman’

+

As a part of their “Stress Test” campaign, Secret Deodorant has unveiled a new ad that perfectly shuts down the ongoing transgender bathroom debate. Starring actress Karis Wilde, the ad features a trans woman in a public women’s restroom, listening to the conversation among cisgender women outside her stall, perfectly illustrating the struggles and fears most trans individuals go through when using public restrooms.

“I always have moments of insecurity, but I have conditioned myself to act unbothered,” Wilde told Queerty. “While shooting, I allowed myself to feel vulnerable. It terrified me how much I’ve stored all those emotions; I almost cried in the middle of taping.”

Though this ad campaign comes shortly after the Obama Administration passed a legislation allowing trans individuals to use their desired bathrooms, there has still been plenty of resistance towards accepting other genders.
