Save the Earth From Aliens with Kid Bloom’s Pysch-Disco Grooves on ‘Electric U’

When you think about the type of music you might hear in a massive summer blockbuster film, groovy psych-disco doesn’t exactly jump to mind. But that’s what happened to LA five piece Kid Bloom, whose song “Electric U” will appear in this summer’s Independence Day: Resurgence. The song, a breezy three minutes of funky horns, and falsetto crooning seems better suited for a 70s-set love story montage than fighting aliens, but maybe there’s a plot line we haven’t seen in all the commercials yet? Either way, this should appear in the soundtrack to you weekend.

“The idea for Electric U was written a long time ago,” the band’s Lennon Kloser says. “It took a while to formulate what we had in mind.”

As for the movie placement, it was a fortuitous moment, when the music supervisor for the film heard their music. “It’ll really hit us when we see it on the big screen and how it all plays into the film,” he says.
