Of course there was someone just standing around with a camera while Jay-Z and Kanye West made Watch the Throne. The way you know this for sure is that the rappers decided to finish the record up in a mansion in Sydney (why? probably just cause they could) and when recording artists finish albums in mansions there’s always a camera in the vicinity. This Robert Lopuski-directed short clocks in at just under 11-minutes and mostly features shots of Jay-Z and Kanye West milling around the Australian mansion being creative, intercut with clips of their humble beginnings they became huge stadium filling acts. There’s also little bits of Beyonce standing around in the background, quietly basking in her own excellence. Oh, and Russell Crowe makes an appearance, because how do you go to Sydney to finish an album and not hit up the master and commander of the far side of the world? My only question is how one puts out an album entitled Watch the Throne without enlisting the voice talents of Maximus Decimus Meridius. Lost opportunity!
