Rihanna debuted her latest collaboration with Dior this week—a namesake collection of Matrix-style sunglasses. This is the second time the Anti singer and Dior brand ambassador has teamed up with the iconic brand. Last year, Rihanna starred in a campaign and short film, “Secret Garden IV,” in which she traipsed around Versailles.
This release comes at the heels of Rihanna’s recent Manholo Blahnik partnership, and the announcement of her new, previously sold out, Puma creepers. After a buzzed about show for her Fenty x Puma fall ’16 line at NYFW, the singer’s foray into fashion has been pretty seamless. A street style regular, Rihanna is the first brand ambassador to actually design for Dior.
The futuristic “Rihanna” glasses will be available starting early June, exclusively at Dior stores with six different styles, including blue, green, pink, red and silver, as well as a 24-karat gold-plated model. Princess RiRi has repped both the silver and red versions on her Instagram the past week.
Following Raf Simons’ departure in 2015, Dior has still not announced his replacement as creative director. There have been rumors that Hedi Slimane left YSL to take the lead at Dior, but as of now, we’re left to wonder. Perhaps Rihanna could bring her bad gal style and sartorial edge to the iconic fashion house as their new HBIC.
