When Rihanna enlisted Chris Brown to appear on the remix for “Birthday Cake,” there was a minor Internet fuss about whether she had any responsibility to publicly repudiate the ex who’d infamously beat her before the 2009 Grammys. Was she sending the wrong signals by interacting with him, or was she actually re-claiming her identity by refusing to fall into such easy victim categorization? Sides raged, as they are wont to do, but the remix came and went, along with a slew of other signs the two were slowly heading toward a reconciliation — a close moment at the VMAs, an interview in which Ri called Brown the love of her life, and so forth.
Well, all of the questions about right or wrong can be put to rest: According to E!, Rihanna and Brown were spotted making out at a NYC nightclub, which would seem to evince the fact that they’ve fully pushed ahead with their whole “We Found Love” music video allegorization. You know, something about about the bad never being bad enough to wipe out the good. As E! writes:
At one point during the night, Brown climbed over his table to join Rihanna at hers. She then proceeded to take off his shirt before they began dancing and making out, according to an eyewitness at the club.
They were also seen leaving a hotel, the next day, which probably wasn’t the first time that’s happened; I imagine that when you’re rich and famous, you can operate in private as you see fit, with such public displays of togetherness carefully meted out by a conscientious publicity crew. Good news, everyone: Your hemming and hawwing has pushed America’s sweethearts back together, and now we can chill out forever on discussing what that means. Two beautiful rich people want to do it with each other, and nothing can stop them. What else is new?
