We all remember Rick Perry, the man behind the campaign video sensation that was Brokeback Perry. Today, it seems his viral antics have landed him in trouble: he’s taking himself out of the presidential race, most likely thanks in no small part to the outraged response on the part of the free-thinking world to his exclusionary definition of Christianity boastfully put forth in his campaign statement. Of course, formal speculation doesn’t quite admit to this. Instead, most sources are attributing Perry’s withdrawal as a response to pressure from the party, whose concern about a divided vote feels premature. Rick Perry is throwing his weight behind Gingrich, in order to put a stop to that upstart Romney who seems to be doing so well. Personally I’ve never been able to understand what so many Republicans’ beef is with Romney–perhaps he doesn’t photograph candidly enough, or isn’t seen around publicly wearing barn jackets–a crippling omission in any Republican candidate’s wardrobe.
