If everyone’s instagrams from Art Basel right now are making you jealous of the palm trees and bikinis, here’s your chance to snag a trip to Miami, one where you can party with local weirdos, later this month, instead of the hungover gallerinas and art-world hanger-ons there right now. (Sounds infinitely better, right?)
The Miami-based collective of artists and filmmakers Borscht—the ones behind that singing vaginas music video we wrote about before—have been hard at work making a crowdsourced remix of Brian De Palma’s classic Scarface.
As one might do with a body and a chainsaw, they hacked the film up into pieces, and they asked whoever wanted to reshoot these 15-second clips to help them create a Frankensteinian reimagining of the film that informs most people’s idea of Miami. The deadline to submit your own redux clip is Monday December 8 at 11:59 EST.
The best clip wins a roundtrip for two to Miami for Borscht’s ninth quasi-annual film festival December 17-21, where on the closing night Scarface Redux will premiere at Mansion Nightclub on Miami Beach.
The contest will be determined by a first-round of likes on Instagram and Facebook and then the judges will pick the winning best clip from the 15 most popular. The grand prize also includes accommodations on Miami Beach and VIP tickets to every screening, event, and show during the festival.
