The images from Raf Simons’s first Calvin Klein ready-to-wear campaign are officially here, and if you’re into the open road, Americana, and male models wandering around in their underwear, you’ll have zero complaints. Lensed by Willy Vanderperre, the pictures were shot in the California desert and feature 22 up-and-coming models of both genders, including Julia Nobis, Ernesto Cervantes, Sara Grace Wallerstedt, Selena Forrest, Kiki Willems, and Leila Goldkuhl.
The photos are slyly self-referential, with images from Simons’s contemporary art-filled campaign, released in February prior to his first collection for Calvin Klein, hiding in the background. While that campaign, technically Simons’s first for Calvin, certainly set the tone with its Sterling Rubys and Andy Warhols obscured by minimally dressed models, it featured very little in the way of actual clothes.
Which, luckily, is not a problem this time, thanks to lust-worthy A/W ’17 items like a furry yellow coat, a billowy American flag dress, tailored suiting and Canadian tuxedos for both genders, and of course, cowboy boots. But there’s also a model traversing the landscape in nothing more than tighty whiteys, because, hello, it is Calvin Klein, after all.
