Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova Releases Anti-Trump Art Film (Watch)

Trump has already announced his plans to cut funding for domestic violence treatment, and places like Planned Parenthood. So Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova has teamed up with the East Los Angeles Women’s Center (ELAWC) and artists Jessie Askinazi and Claire Christerson to illustrate just how horrifying that reality could be. In a new video choreographed by Kathleen Dycaico, the feminist activist showcases the damage that would come from destroying these vital services.

“I’m angry that instead of protecting our rights governments are ceasing them,” Tolokonnikova told Teen Vogue. “Trump’s deranged administration is cutting spending on public institutions that provide us opportunity to be safe and healthy. […] We could save people’s lives, instead of that we’re feeding wars and corruption with our public money.”

A longtime advocate for equality, Tolokonnikova has never been shy about her feelings for Trump. During his campaign, Pussy Riot released a series of three radical music videos, declaring “Vagina is bigger than Trump.” We definitely agree. And in a time where all of our rights are being threatened, we definitely can’t stop speaking up.

“This is a time for young women to become engaged,” said ELAWC executive director, Barbara Kappos. “[…] We need women to get involved in politics, raising our voices and getting involved on a local and national level. Our voices must not be silenced.”
